Projects

City Improvements

The city council is committed to working tirelessly on behalf of our community, continuously exploring new ideas, initiatives, and partnerships to improve the quality of life for all residents and ensure a brighter future for our city.

Comprehensive Plan

2025

Planning for future city needs

With housing development on the rise, the city and its residents need to be prepared to make improvements that will accommodate for the increase in population. The city's council is poised to work with its residents and to take on the challenges the future may have in store. The city has been awarded an RCP grant to work with Payne Empowerment, a company that specializes in helping cities make the most of its resources. It is important that everyone is heard so that the vision for the city and its stakeholders are given ample opportunity to utilize this opportunity.

Water

2025

Municipal Water Plant

A safe and reliable city water supply is essential to the health and prosperity of residents, providing clean drinking water, supporting sanitation, and enabling everyday activities that sustain quality of life. It also plays a vital role in public health, economic development, and emergency preparedness, making it one of the city's most critical infrastructure systems.

Communication

2025

Website

A well-designed city website can significantly enhance communication with residents by serving as a centralized hub for timely updates, public announcements, service information, and community resources. By offering clear navigation, mobile accessibility, and real-time notifications, the website helps keep residents informed, engaged, and empowered to participate in local government and community initiatives.

Safety

2025

City Street Lights

Each of the major intersections along 1774 will have a 100W Cobra style street light installed. This will provide illumination for motorists traveling throughout our city and increase the safety and security.

2025

Ambulance Station

An ambulance station is vital to the health and well-being of residents, ensuring rapid emergency medical response when every second counts. By providing immediate care and swift transport to medical facilities, it helps save lives, reduces the severity of injuries, and offers peace of mind to the community knowing help is always close at hand.

Policies

2025

Zoning Ordinances

Zoning ordinances are important to a city's residents because they help guide growth, protect property values, and ensure compatible land uses within neighborhoods. By regulating how land can be used, zoning promotes safety, preserves community character, and supports long-term planning that benefits both residents and local businesses.

2025

Permitting

Permits are important to a city's residents because they ensure that construction, renovations, and business activities meet safety codes, zoning laws, and environmental standards. This protects public health, maintains community standards, and promotes responsible development that benefits the entire city.

Roads and Traffic

2025

Roads

Grading roads—especially in populated and newly developed areas—is important to a city’s residents because it ensures safe, smooth travel, reduces vehicle wear and tear, and supports accessibility for emergency services. Prioritizing these areas helps maintain infrastructure where it's needed most, improving quality of life and supporting continued growth and development.

2025

Traffic

Traffic management is important to a city's residents because it helps reduce congestion, improve road safety, and ensure efficient travel throughout the community. Effective traffic planning supports smoother commutes, safer streets for pedestrians and cyclists, and better access to local businesses and services.

Health and Wellness

2026

Health Clinic

Health clinics are important because they provide affordable, comprehensive care, especially to underserved communities, and offer both acute and preventive services. They play a crucial role in promoting community well-being by managing chronic illnesses, delivering vaccinations, and offering essential services like screenings and mental health support. Clinics also establish long-term patient relationships and use modern tools like telemedicine to improve access and efficiency.

2026

Food banks are important because they combat hunger by providing essential food to those in need, reduce food waste by redistributing surplus food, and build community resilience by offering a safety net for vulnerable populations. They also support health by providing nutritious food and offering resources like nutritional education, while helping families save money on groceries to spend on other necessities.

2026

Community gardens provide benefits across health, social, and environmental areas, such as increased access to healthy food, improved physical and mental well-being, stronger community connections, and environmental restoration. They also enhance neighborhood safety, increase property values, and can serve as important gathering spaces during crises.

City Events

Last year was a big year for Todd Mission. We had a great time hosting the Summer Festival  with an amazing fireworks display donated by our very Heather Moon-Whinrey and her Husband Brad. I am so grateful for all the help from our volunteers.

Keeping Todd Mission looking good!

2024 we were fortunate to have a sponsored Community Cleanup through Grimes County. It was such a success I requested the city sponsor our own in 2025. Let's keep our city clean and help by disposing of our waste responsibly.

Preserving the past

To some Todd Mission is known as "The Renaissance Festival" but we are so much more. There is a rich culture and a long history, stories never told that need to be remembered. We have an obligation to learn from the past and ensure mistakes are not repeated and the achievements recognized. I hope to bring our community together and to learn from those who came before me.

Activities for Children

We had our very first Trunk or Treat in 2024, so many people came out to enjoy the decorated cars, costumes and candy. I'm looking forward to being part of this event for many more years.

Supporting Grimes County Animal Rescue

Caring for those who can't care for themselves includes our 4 legged friends. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Grimes County Animal Rescue there are so many lucky fur babies with pet parents who will look out for them. We salute all the volunteers and staff of this noble organization.

Looking to the future

Big changes are coming to our area and our local leaders need to be prepared for this with strong and wise policies that will safe guard the things that matter most to our residents. Both current and future residents will need to be prepared for the known and unforeseen issues. By forging a relationship based on trust with my community I will focus on improving our emergency services and supporting the community through outreach events. Our city will face challenges and rise to the occasion. We will be proud to call Todd Mission our home!
